Breaking: Popular ODM Governor and Raila odinga close ally election nullified

Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti has been dealt a major blow after the Court of Appeal upheld the nullification of his victory during the August 8 General election.
The ruling was made at Kisumu law courts by Lady Justice Fatuma Sichale.
In February, Mr Awiti's win was successfully petitioned by former Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga, who was his arch-rival during the polls.
Magwanga argued that the election was marred by massive irregularities.

The evidence he provided before the court, saw judge Joseph Karanja rule against Awiti stating that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) did not conduct a fair and credible election.
The former MP told the court that the votes announced by IEBC were irregular as his parallel tallying centre showed that he had won the election.
IEBC declared Mr Awiti the victor with 210,173 votes as Mr Magwanga came second with 189,060 votes.
Nonetheless, Mr Magwanga results from his tallying centre showed that he had garnered 224,863 votes against Awiti’s 174,235 votes.
