Matiangi declares Tuesday a public holiday

Interior cabinet secretary Fred matiangi has declared Tuesday 21st August 2018, a public holiday.
Matiangi issued the gazette notice today evening at around 5.

In Gazette Notice dated August 17, 2018, the CS stated that the holiday is meant to allow Idd-Ul-Azha celebrations across the country.

"It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government declares that Tuesday, the 21st August 2018 be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Azha, 2018," reads the notice sent out on Friday evening.

Last year this holiday was not celebrated but it was celebrated on 2016.

Matiangi made it clear that there are  plans to make the holiday a gazetted public holiday for Muslims.
