KANU Youth Leader Kipchumba Rono, a close ally of Mr Moi, took to social media to hint Langat's latest move, which could further throw Ruto into a limbo.
"Businessman David Langat handshake with 5th President Dr. Gideon Moi today at Kabarak. Picture that speak volumes," wrote Mr Rono.
The latest tragedy in DP Ruto's camp comes barely two months after another businessman Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki, accused Tanga Tanga of undermining him, before joining CCM.
Mr Buzeki, who is eyeing Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat, finished second in 2017 polls. He has since been elevated as CCM Secretary General.
“These are the people who have held the DP’s office hostage. When someone, including old women, want to see the DP he demands Sh50,000. Where do you expect a poor mother to get Sh50,000? This man is a tax collector,” said an agitated Mr Kiprop.
"This stupidity must stop. This time we are going to speak the truth without hiding anything from anyone,” he added.
Despite leaning towards former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, Mr Bundotich recently held a meeting with Gideon Moi at the latter's Ziwa home in Uasin Gishu.
