Details about Hillary Barchok,The new Bomet Governor

Hillary K Barchok like most Deputy Governors is a man unknown to many Kenyans. Barchok was the man behind the deceased woman of steel, Governor Joyce Laboso, who succumbed to colon cancer on Monday. Barchok bravely took on his boss' duties when she was braving cancer abroad despite attempts to remove him from office. Deceased Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso and her Deputy Dr. Hillary K. Barchok Aside from his gubernatorial duties, the deputy Governor is a specialist in curriculum development. He has a wealth of experience in the area of science education having taught in High School and later in Chuka University. Barchok later rose in ranks to the position of Dean School of Education before embarking on his political career. He became Laboso's running mate in 2017 general election, taking over from former governor Isaac Ruto. Besides duties relating to his career as an educator, Dr. Barchok has played a significant role in empowering the community by participating and organizing activities that promote entrepreneurship skills among the youth in society. In June 2018, Barchok was awarded an appointment to the Retirement Benefit Authority where he was to serve as board member. With the passing on of Laboso, Barchok is set to fill up the void left by Laboso by assuming office as the governor. This is according to part two of section 182 of the constitution,If a vacancy occurs in the office of county governor, the deputy county governor shall assume office as county governor for the remainder of the term of the county governor. If a person assumes office as county governor under clause (2), the person shall be deemed for the purposes of Article 180 (7)-- To have served a full term as county governor if, at the date on which the person assumed office, more than two and a half years remain before the date of the next regularly scheduled election under Article 180 (1)
